One of the main goals is to complicate and hinder installing apps through "unofficial" channels. The [European Commision has issued a statement](https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/E-10-2026-000748-ASW_EN.html) that it is monitoring the situation and is "_engaged in a regulatory dialogue_" with Alphabet/Google.
