What is counted

A seller revises a listing in place rather than republishing it, so each one is counted once, at its latest revision, under its (pubkey, d-tag) coordinate — 14,593 of them. From those, six groups that are not someone selling something are removed. What is left, 6,845 listings, is the pool behind every chart here.

−5,046 Non-retail bulk publishers — three single accounts: a stock-photo catalogue, a mempool telemetry feed, and a directory of bitcoin-accepting businesses
−325 Carrier / staging clients — apps using kind-30402 (markets-product-listings) as transport for something else, and one staging host
−209 Unrenderable — no title, no body text, no summary and no image -- nothing a buyer could see
−891 Synthetic / test listings — test-worded titles, and identical titles at one price from 4+ pubkeys (E2E farms)
−769 Deleted (NIP-09) — the listing's own author published a kind-5 (deletion-requests) event naming it
−508 Withdrawn — status sold/taken/inactive, visibility hidden, or stock 0

There is no expiry in NIP-99: a listing with no status tag counts as active forever. Only 797 of 14,593 coordinates are ever marked withdrawn — 5.5% across three years, which no real marketplace sustains. That is why the 90-day figures matter more than the totals.
