Offline Markdown notes synchronized safely with Nextcloud

Republished from GitHub / F-Droid by the Zapstore main account.

QOwnNotes is an offline-capable Markdown notes app for Android that synchronizes with your own Nextcloud server. The Nextcloud Files Android app and a server with Nextcloud Notes API 1.2 or newer, provided by Nextcloud Notes or QOwnNotes for Nextcloud, are required for account setup. Nextcloud Files manages your login credentials. Its Single Sign-On library stores an account access token in QOwnNotes' private preferences, not in the notes database. Features include: * Read, search, create, rename, edit, and delete notes while offline * Conflict-safe synchronization using ETags and durable pending changes * CommonMark and GitHub Flavored Markdown rendering and source editing * QOwnNotes wiki links, task states, note naming, subfolders, and favorites * Note tags shared with QOwnNotes desktop, with tag filtering in the note list * Create, browse, search, edit, and archive Nextcloud Deck cards and insert card links * Safe remote images and authenticated Nextcloud note attachments * Home-screen widgets for note lists and selected notes * Offline bookmark browsing and image insertion while editing * Record audio notes from the app or widget and play audio attachments in the app * Light and dark themes on Android 9 and newer * Optional note version and remote trash access through QOwnNotes for Nextcloud or QOwnNotesAPI QOwnNotes contains no advertising, analytics, or developer-operated telemetry. Notes are stored on the device and synchronized only with the Nextcloud server selected by the user. Images load automatically when a note is opened. Remote HTTPS images contact the hosts referenced in the note, which can see your IP address and request metadata. The note menu's "Load images" toggle can disable image loading for the current view; it resets to enabled when the note is reopened. Nextcloud note attachments are loaded from your selected server through Single Sign-On.

  • Oct 25, 2026 1.7.0
    ## [1.7.0] - 2026-10-25 ### Added - Edit bookmark names, URLs, tags, and descriptions directly from the bookmark browser, with a polished dialog, offline saving, and protection against overwriting changed, read-only, or conflicted notes. - Delete bookmarks directly from the bookmark browser with a confirmation dialog and clear feedback. Changes are saved offline to the source Markdown note; unrelated text is preserved, and read-only or conflicted notes are protected.

    - Long-press a checkbox block in the note preview to show a compact action row. Delete the item together with all nested items and continuation text after confirmation; the selected block is highlighted, and read-only or conflicted notes stay protected.
  • Oct 23, 2026 1.6.1
    ## [1.6.1] - 2026-10-23 ### Fixed - Checkbox list items can be reordered by dragging in notes that also contain checkbox-like lines which are not shown as checkboxes, such as an empty `- [ ]` item or one inside an HTML comment or code block. Such lines previously hid the drag handles of the whole note. - Tapping a checkbox in such a note now always toggles that checkbox instead of possibly toggling another item.
