Zapstore _@zapstore.dev A modern, customizable home-screen launcher built with Jetpack Compose
Republished from GitHub / F-Droid by the Zapstore main account.
ARK-launcher is a modern, lightweight Android home-screen launcher built entirely with Jetpack Compose and Material 3. It is available in English, Finnish, German, Spanish, French, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish and Turkish, and works as a standalone launcher for anyone. Features: * Paged home screen with free icon placement and smooth drag-and-drop — move icons within a page, across pages, and between the home grid and the dock. * Dock of favourite apps. * App drawer with universal search: apps, system settings pages, contacts (opt-in), and a calculator / unit converter, plus an optional most-used apps row. * Home-screen widgets — add, resize, move, reconfigure, and stretch a widget to full width. Collection widgets (chat lists, calendars) scroll in place. * Built-in widgets: a clock with the date, your next event, the next alarm and optional weather; battery; notifications; and people (conversations grouped by person). * Folders on the home screen and inside the app drawer. * Third-party icon packs (ADW/Nova appfilter format) and Material You themed icons. * Configurable gestures: swipe up for the app drawer, swipe down for notifications, and a configurable left-edge swipe. * Notification dots / badges, and an optional themed status bar. * Backup and restore your layout and settings to a file. Widgets are included in backups. * Double-tap empty home-screen space to lock the screen (opt-in). * Lock desktop, hide apps, rename apps with custom labels, and a self-contained settings screen. Network use: the only feature that uses the internet is the optional weather in the clock widget. It needs the location permission and fetches the current weather from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) with your location rounded to about 1 km. The place name comes from the phone's own geocoder; only if you turn on "Place name from the internet" (off by default) and the phone has no geocoder of its own is the name looked up from BigDataCloud (bigdatacloud.com). With the weather turned off in Settings, the app makes no network requests. Free and open-source under the Apache-2.0 license.

- Oct 21, 2026 0.9.0Apps can now be dragged around inside an open folder and out of it onto the home screen, the dock or "Remove", and a new setting scales the icons. Updating keeps your layout, widgets and settings. **Added** - **Reorder inside a folder.** Long-press an app in an open folder and drag it to another slot; the other apps slide out of the way as you move, and the new order is kept. (Requested on Telegram.) - **Drag an app out of a folder.** Pull it past the folder's edge and drop it on a home cell (onto another app makes a folder, onto a folder adds it there), on the dock when there is room, or on "Remove" at the top to take it off the home screen. The folder closes after the drop; a drop anywhere else leaves the app in the folder. A folder left with one app turns back into that app's icon. - **Icon size.** The *Icon size* slider in Settings (80–130 %) sets the size of the icons on the home screen, in the dock and in the app drawer; an icon never grows past its cell. **Changed** - **The open folder is a card over the home screen** instead of a bottom sheet, so a drag can continue onto the home screen. Its name is edited in place at the top; Back or a tap outside closes it; a still long-press on an app opens its menu as before. - **Screen readers stay inside the open folder.** While a folder is open the home screen behind it cannot be reached or activated; the folder is announced by its name and can be dismissed.

Updating keeps your layout, widgets and settings. **Added** - **Other apps can add to the home screen.** A browser's "Add to Home screen" or "Install app", a conversation shortcut from a chat app, an app's own "Add widget" button: ARK-launcher now shows its own confirmation over the app, with the app's name, a preview and the size, and puts the item on the first free spot (a new page at the end if every page is full). Nothing on the home screen is moved for it, and the next time home shows it turns to the new item. A widget gets the size the widget picker would give it; the system asks first when it needs permission to add one. A locked desktop, a work-profile widget, a widget too big for the grid or a full home screen is explained instead of added. - **App menu inside folders.** Long-pressing an app inside an open folder opens the same menu as on the home screen: app info, rename, remove from folder, uninstall and the app's shortcuts. The app stays in the folder; taking it out is one of the menu's actions. (Reported on Telegram.) - **Widgets in the app menu.** An app that has home-screen widgets gets a *Widgets* row in its long-press menu, on the home screen, in the dock, inside a folder and in the app drawer, like Pixel Launcher. It opens the widget picker on that app's widgets only. - **Folders from the drawer and the dock.** Dropping an app from the app drawer or the dock onto a home-screen icon makes a folder of the two, and dropping it onto a folder adds it there — what a drop between two home icons already did. An app already on the home screen leaves its old cell for the folder. - **A word after another app's add.** When a shortcut or widget another app asked for has been added, a toast names it, so you see the outcome while still in that app. **Changed**

- **Shortcuts in the long-press menu** are picked the way Pixel Launcher does: only the ones the app offers for that icon, the app's fixed ones first and up to two dynamic ones, each with its own icon. A shortcut that cannot start says "Shortcut isn't available". - **Pinned shortcuts follow the app.** A new name or icon shows at once; one the app disables turns grey and a tap shows the app's reason; one the system no longer has is removed from home instead of leaving an occupied but empty cell. - **Back on the bare home screen does nothing** instead of restarting the launcher. **Fixed** - Adding an item when every home page is full no longer stores it where it could never be seen; the home screen says it is full instead. (The home screen has at most 50 pages.) - Package changes that arrive in a burst, or while the home screen is not open, are no longer lost; an uninstalled app's rows are cleaned up reliably. SHA-256 `ARK-launcher-0.8.9.apk`: `25f2157b4b5d02765d85b664cfa55475e6f3ad1d9bf80f5879d04f1f6a1b3eeb` - Oct 17, 2026 0.8.8Infinite scrolling of the home pages, a way to close the set-as-default card, and page dots that show on light wallpapers. Updating keeps your layout, widgets and settings. **Added** - **Infinite scrolling.** Swiping on from the last home page brings the first one back, and swiping back from the first page brings the last, following your finger, requested in #5. It is on by default; turn it off under Settings ▸ Home screen ▸ Infinite scrolling. Dragging icons and widgets is unchanged: a drag never wraps, and holding an icon at the right edge still opens a new empty page. If you have chosen a Left edge app, the swipe right on the first page keeps opening it, so the first page then wraps only forwards. - **"Not now" on the set-as-default card.** The card that asks you to make ARK-launcher your default home app can now be closed, requested in #6. It stays closed on this phone, and Settings still has the "Set as default launcher" row. **Changed** - **The ends of the pages.** With infinite scrolling off, or with a single page, a swipe past the last page no longer slides onto an empty page that then slides back (#7). Both ends now stop with Android's edge stretch and say "No more pages". The empty page past the last one is only for dropping icons. - **Page dots on light wallpapers.** The dots and the home-page marker have a soft dark shadow, so they no longer vanish on a light wallpaper. - **TalkBack and Switch Access.** Paging at either end does what a swipe does: it wraps when infinite scrolling is on, and otherwise stops and says "No more pages".

Updating keeps your layout, widgets and settings. **Added** - **Polish translation.** The whole launcher — home screen, app drawer, widgets, settings and onboarding — is now available in Polish, requested in #4. Phones set to Polish get it automatically; on Android 13 and newer you can also pick it under Settings ▸ System ▸ Languages ▸ App languages ▸ ARK-launcher. - Oct 12, 2026 0.8.5A swipe that starts on an icon no longer launches it. Updating keeps your layout, widgets and settings. **Fixed** - **A quick swipe up that starts on a home icon no longer launches that app.** It only opens the app list, exactly as a swipe from empty space does. Before, a short flick that lifted inside the icon's cell also counted as a tap, so the app list opened and the app underneath started at the same time. - **A sideways swipe that starts on an icon turns the page right away.** Before, the page only began to follow once the finger had left the icon's cell, and a short flick inside the cell launched the app instead of turning the page.
