Direct file transfer over ad hoc WiFi. No shared network or cell connection required, just two devices with WiFi chips in close range. Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, and Windows supported. Don't have a flash drive? Don't have access to a wireless network? Need to move a file larger than 2GB between different filesystems but don't want to set up a file share? Try it out!

Version 10 is a breaking change. Version 10 devices can't transfer with version 9 or earlier.

    ### Shared Network mode Flying Carpet formerly always created its own WiFi hotspot. Now you can transfer over a WiFi or wired network both devices are already on, which is faster to start when there's a network handy. The receiving device generates a one-time password and shows it with a QR code; type or scan it on the sending device. This allows Apple-to-Apple transfers to work. It also unblocks Android-to-iOS (#131), lets a desktop on Ethernet transfer with a phone on WiFi (#124), and works on machines without WiFi (#93). Machines with several network interfaces get a dropdown showing each one's IP. ### Rebuilt encryption Every transfer, in both modes, now runs a Noise handshake (X25519, ChaCha20-Poly1305, SHA-256), with the key derived from your password by PBKDF2 at 600,000 iterations. Full writeup in docs/shared-network-crypto.md. ### macOS and Linux Bluetooth Hotspot transfers between a Mac and a Linux machine used to require pairing the two in System Settings first, and often failed afterward with "Peer removed pairing information". Linux now bonds over an LE socket, which stops it reaching macOS over classic Bluetooth, where macOS serves no GATT. Pairing also shows the 6-digit code for you to confirm. ### Send Folder Sending a folder now recreates that folder on the receiving device with the contents inside, on all five platforms. Previously only macOS did this — everywhere else the files were dumped loose into the destination. Sending individual files is unchanged.

If either device cannot use Bluetooth, turn off the Bluetooth switch within Flying Carpet on both devices and the old methods can be used.
