- Sep 3, 2026 1.4.3## What's Changed **New: support for WebViews that reuse a stock package name (e.g. Cromite).** Builds like Cromite's `SystemWebView.apk` install under the stock package name `com.android.webview`, which every ROM already declares as a provider. Previously AnyWebView skipped such packages as "already declared", so the stock entry kept the signature the ROM declares and the framework's signature validation rejected the sideloaded APK — it never appeared in the picker (#35). The known workaround was a Magisk module mounting the APK into /system, since system apps bypass the signature check. AnyWebView now rewrites the stock entry to carry the installed APK's own signature — the same mechanism it already used for added providers — so a normally installed Cromite becomes selectable in Developer options → WebView implementation. No Magisk module needed. **Compatibility (real-device reports):** * Android 16 (Pixel 7, stock) - Cromite SystemWebView confirmed working (Magisk + LSPosed), see #35 * Other versions - the rewrite reuses the signature mechanism already used for appended providers, stable since Android 7; success and failure reports are welcome

If a same-named fork still does not show up, check the framework log tagged `anywebview` — on this path it should contain `rewriting stock provider with installed signature: <package>`. --- **Full Changelog**: https://github.com/neoblackxt/AnyWebView/compare/v1.4.2...v1.4.3 - Aug 8, 2026 1.4.2## What's Changed * Fix `scope.list` to recommend the correct LSPosed scope. by @Alhugh233 in https://github.com/neoblackxt/AnyWebView/pull/34 ## New Contributors * @Alhugh233 made their first contribution in https://github.com/neoblackxt/AnyWebView/pull/34 **Full Changelog**: https://github.com/neoblackxt/AnyWebView/compare/v1.4.1...v1.4.2

**Note:** The pre-Android-15 fallback path (legacy de.robv entry point, ActivityThread context fallback) has not been tested on a real device yet.
