Your home screen opens with a keyboard. One bar finds everything on your phone and everything on the web, and opens what you find in a browser that blocks ads. SEARCH ANYTHING Apps, app shortcuts, contacts, device settings, downloads, calendar events for the coming week, text snippets and your own custom actions. Ranking learns from what you pick, so the next time is faster. SEARCH INSIDE APPS, NOT JUST FOR THEM Type y for YouTube, m for Maps, w for Wikipedia, then what you are looking for. Add a shortcut for any site with a search URL, and give it whatever letter you like. ONE FIELD THAT KNOWS WHAT YOU TYPED A sum gets an answer you can tap to copy. A web address opens. "5m pasta" sets a timer. A phone number offers to call it, message it, or save it as a contact. An email address offers to write to it. A BROWSER WITH NO ADS Web results open in the app, with ads and trackers blocked by default. Swipe the search bar sideways to move between tabs, or up to see them all as live previews. Both work from the home screen, so your tabs are one gesture away without opening a browser first. Save a page under a title you choose, and find visited pages back from the search bar. Private windows, file uploads, picture-in-picture video and hardware keyboard shortcuts are all included. FEWER ICONS, MORE ROOM FOR WIDGETS Add a widget by typing its name, resize it by dragging, and tap the wallpaper to show or hide them all. On a tablet they lay out in columns rather than one widget stretched across the display. MAKE IT YOURS Swipe through your own wallpapers. The theme colour can follow the wallpaper behind the search bar. Monochrome icons are optional. Dark mode, a true black OLED mode, a row of favourites, voice search, and export and import of everything you have set up. Use it as your default launcher, or as a widget on the launcher you already have. PRIVACY Nothing is sent anywhere by default. Search suggestions are optional, and when you turn them on, what you type goes to whichever provider the shortcut names. Crash reporting is opt-in. Contacts, calendar entries and photos are read on your device to answer what you typed and are never uploaded. The browser's blocklist is downloaded from the StevenBlack hosts project. # SearchLauncher v0.0.46 ## Set an alarm from the search bar Typing a clock time, such as `22:10`, `22.10`, `7:30pm`, `alarm 6.45` or `wekker 6.45 gym`, now shows **Set alarm for 22:10** at the top of the results. It opens your clock app's set-alarm screen with the time, and any label, already filled in. A clock time no longer offers to call or text it as a phone number; `call 22.10` still works when you mean it. ## Shorter onboarding Onboarding no longer stops to ask whether your phone has separate notification and Quick Settings trays. It goes straight from the notifications swipe to the Quick Settings swipe on two-tray phones, or to the app drawer swipe on one-tray phones. The hint about opening Settings now shows the same settings icon as the search bar.

    ## Favorite apps from the app drawer Long-pressing an app in the app drawer now offers **Add to Favorites** or **Remove from Favorites**, next to App Info and Uninstall. ## Validation Formatting and store-copy checks, unit tests, and the release APK build ran in CI for each change. This release includes pull requests [#155](https://github.com/ontola/searchlauncher/pull/155) and [#156](https://github.com/ontola/searchlauncher/pull/156). The GitHub APK updates the regular installation of SearchLauncher. The Play production release is subject to Google's review.

    # SearchLauncher v0.0.45 ## Open web addresses reliably Typing an address now offers **Open website** even for hosts that the old URL matcher missed, such as `ontola.staging.atomicserver.eu`, `localhost`, an IP address, or an address with a port and path. A typed address also ranks above learned apps and open tabs, so pressing Go takes you to the site. Ordinary words still search normally. ## Clear means clear Clearing a search, returning Home, or opening a result now removes the visible text from the search box as well as resetting the results. The old text could remain on screen because the keyboard still held an unfinished edit.

    ## Recognize pages at a glance Bookmarks, browsing history, and open tabs now show their web address below the page title. The selected result keeps readable contrast on page-colored result panels. ## Send feedback with useful context Settings now has **Send feedback**. You can write a report and optionally include an email address. The report includes device, Android, WebView, and SearchLauncher version details to help diagnose problems. Sending feedback does not change your crash-reporting preference. ## Validation Formatting and store-copy checks, debug and release unit suites, and the release APK build passed. This release includes the fixes merged in pull requests [#150](https://github.com/ontola/searchlauncher/pull/150), [#151](https://github.com/ontola/searchlauncher/pull/151), [#152](https://github.com/ontola/searchlauncher/pull/152), and [#153](https://github.com/ontola/searchlauncher/pull/153). The GitHub APK updates the regular installation of SearchLauncher. The Play production release is subject to Google's review.

    # SearchLauncher v0.0.44 ## See which websites use storage Open **Settings → Browser → Website storage** to see a total and a searchable list of domains, with the largest storage users first. Clear a site's data or clear all website data to free space. - Storage sizes are prominent on each domain's card. - Clearing removes cookies, cached files and saved website data. A confirmation explains that you may be signed out or lose offline content. - Clearing a domain also covers its related subdomains. Downloads and browsing history are kept. - Sizes reflect storage reported by Android WebView, not the complete disk footprint: cookies, local storage and some cached files are excluded. Sites using only those may not appear, but **Clear all website data** still includes them.

    - Older WebView versions show an update message if they cannot safely clear site data. ## Better swipe-down setup Onboarding now asks whether your phone has separate notification and Quick Settings trays, so the tutorial and gestures fit phones with either layout. You can change this choice in Settings. ## Other changes Includes the Android developer verification registration asset. ## Validation The storage panel was tested with real website databases and cookies on an Android 15 emulator: cancellation preserved data, and clearing one site left an unrelated site's data intact. The USB-installed debug build was also checked and approved on a Xiaomi phone. The release APK updates the regular GitHub installation; it is separate from SearchLauncher Debug.
