Zapstore _@zapstore.dev Break the scrolling loop on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube
Republished from GitHub / F-Droid by the Zapstore main account.
Break the scrolling loop without losing touch. AwayDoomscrollin' is an open-source Android accessibility app from Resolve Community that limits feeds and short-video scrolling on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube while keeping purposeful use available. Protection and compatibility: • Protection uses accessibility information provided by other apps. App, Android or device software changes can delay detection or cause missed or incorrect detections. Protection is not guaranteed to work perfectly on every device. Features: • Instagram: Both modes cover Home and Explore and block the Reels feed tab. Messages and search remain available. Balanced keeps profiles and profile posts open, allows one selected Reel and its comments, and closes the viewer when you move to another video. Stories and Highlights also remain available in Balanced. Strict additionally covers profile posts and blocks Reels, Stories and Highlights. Shared media galleries in message details may also be covered. • YouTube: Both modes cover Home and Subscriptions and block the Shorts feed tab. Search results, channels, the You tab and long videos remain available. Strict blocks all Shorts. Balanced allows one specific Short opened from search or a link; moving to another video closes the viewer. Scrolling comments does not count as changing videos. • TikTok: Protection interrupts video-feed scrolling rather than blocking the entire app. TikTok currently uses one protection setting, not Strict and Balanced modes. • User control: Protection can be disabled from the app or Android accessibility settings; the app does not monitor settings or prevent service deactivation. • Analytics: View block counts, daily protection streaks and measured Instagram and YouTube curtain durations. Curtain time is not an estimate of time saved. Privacy and network transparency: • The Android manifest declares INTERNET permission. Screen-content analysis and blocking run on-device, but the app is not fully offline. • Optional usage-data sharing is off by default. No telemetry request is made and no telemetry installation UUID is created until you read the detailed disclosure and choose “Agree to share.” Protection works without sharing. • While enabled, telemetry sends v3 protocol/report identifiers, a random installation UUID, device model, Android and screen information, AwayDoomscrollin', Instagram, TikTok and YouTube versions, total and per-app intervention counts, and accumulated Instagram and YouTube curtain-visibility times with their measurement versions to awaydoomscrollin.com. Local streak days and XP are not sent. Users who previously enabled v2 sharing are asked again before the expanded v3 summary is sent. Explicit opt-in may trigger one immediate attempt; later automatic attempts share one persisted 24-hour interval. Turning telemetry off stops new submissions, though an in-flight request may finish. The latest active server snapshot expires within 90 days, encrypted local backups use a separate 14-day rotation, and the server stores a SHA-256 installation key rather than the raw UUID. • Detection and protection logic runs entirely on-device; internet access is never used for protection decisions. AwayDoomscrollin' is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Meta, ByteDance, Google, Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube. Their names are used only to describe compatibility.

blocks Reels and Shorts. Balanced allows one selected short video, including its comments, but interrupts the move to the next video. - Updated installs start in Balanced. On first launch they see a one-time "What's new" card that explains both modes, notes that Strict is closest to v1.2.0's Instagram protection and opens the Apps tab to choose. - YouTube Home and Subscriptions feeds now use curtains. Search results, channels, playlists, the You tab and long videos remain available in both modes. In Balanced, one Short opened from search, a channel or a link can be watched. - Instagram profiles and profile posts now remain available in Balanced, so product pages and other intentional profile browsing still work. Saved, Liked and Reposted lists are open in Balanced and closed in Strict. Strict also covers profile posts and blocks Stories, Highlights and Reels shared in messages. - Account search stays open on Instagram; the suggested grid under keyword search results is covered like Explore. - More stable curtains on Instagram and YouTube: they appear faster, no longer show up in unrelated places and no longer block taps or natural scrolling in messages. Returning from notifications, Search and Saved lists is quicker. - Added local YouTube protection-time statistics. Weekly summaries show Instagram and YouTube curtain durations separately from block counts. - Optional usage sharing now includes measured YouTube curtain visibility. Existing participants are asked again before the expanded v3 summary is sent. - Improved Instagram and YouTube intervention counting: displaying a curtain is not a block; repeated events for the same viewer exit do not add more blocks. - Apps that are not installed are shown dimmed without a switch. Smoother tab and setup transitions, clearer mode explanations in setup and updated English/Turkish copy. Android's accessibility settings now show the English description on phones not set to Turkish. - New optional setup step, also reachable from About > Setup and protection guide: on phones such as Xiaomi, POCO and OnePlus, where the system can stop protection in the background, it asks Android to stop battery optimization for the app. - Fixed the setup screen's high-refresh-rate preference and extended its dark background behind the system navigation area. - TikTok protection is unchanged in this release. Detection depends on accessibility information from other apps. Changes to those apps, Android or device software can still affect protection.
