**Curate. Read. Breathe.** Whisper is a calm, private reader for the news and blogs you choose. No account, no tracking: everything stays on your phone, and it works fully offline. **Reading** - Four layouts: Cards, Magazine, List and Mosaic, in light or dark - A clean reader view, with the full article fetched per feed or for all of them - Read later keeps the whole article, pictures included, for reading offline - Several sources covering one story become one lead card - Mark read as you scroll, with read articles dimmed or hidden - Chronological by default; or let Whisper give more room to what you read most, and see why for any article - On a tablet the feed spreads into columns, and an article opens beside it **Sources you control** - Add a feed by address, or paste a website and Whisper finds the feed - Import OPML, or your browser's bookmarks, and it works out which sites publish feeds - A feed library built into the app: 39 topics and 50 countries, browsed without telling anyone what you're looking for - Broken feeds are flagged, with their last five fetches and the error from each **Private by design** - No trackers, no ads, no analytics - Weather in the glance row is off by default and needs no location permission: you type a place name, and the forecast comes from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) - Settings → Export diagnostics writes a report you can read before you share it. It holds counts and settings, never what you searched for or the addresses you typed **Optional extras** - Two-way sync with your own FreshRSS server: subscriptions, read state and saved articles - Scheduled backups of your feeds and settings to a folder you choose - If you use Lawnchair, Whisper can live on its left-most home-screen page

- Oct 18, 2026 1.0.5Text size for articles, a way to keep a source out of the main feed, and fixes for things readers reported. - Article text size: Settings → Article text size, under Reading. Small, Default, Large or Larger. It changes the article in the reader and leaves the feed alone. - Keep a source out of All. Each source has a new Show in All switch. Turn it off and the source still updates and still shows under its categories and in search, just not in the main feed. Handy for a feed you want to read in its own corner. - Show summaries: under Feed layout, turn it off to keep pictures and headlines without the text underneath. - Article times: how long ago (2h), the time published (14:32), or both. - With read articles hidden, the last few in the feed now scroll away like the rest, and saved articles leave the feed once read and stay in Bookmarks. - The source editor says "Categories" everywhere instead of switching between tags and categories. - A "Syncing" notice could stay up long after the sync had finished. Whisper now notices and takes it down. - A picture credit such as "Getty Images" no longer stays behind as a line of its own when the reader moves the picture to the top. - Bylines like "staff@site.com (Name)" now show just the name. - The tour's highlight no longer runs off the edge of the screen. If you installed 1.0.4 from here, install this over it. Your sources and settings stay put. Copies from Google Play or F-Droid are signed with different keys, so they can't be updated with this one. Google Play asks news apps for this, and it's handy to have anyway. - The links under the app's name in About wrap onto a second line, so none of them are hidden off the edge of the screen. Everything else is the same as 1.0.3. If you installed 1.0.3 from here, install this over it. Your sources and settings stay put.
