Turtlecute turtlecute@primal.net Privacy-first keyboard with optional AI voice-to-text and text fix
WisprBoard is a privacy-first Android keyboard, forked from HeliBoard (which is based on AOSP / OpenBoard). Core typing runs locally on-device. Two optional AI features — Voice-to-Text and Text Fix — only run when you turn them on and supply your own API key. No accounts. No subscription. No telemetry. No backend. Bring your own key. AI Voice-to-Text Long-press Return, tap the mic, speak. Your words land as polished text.

Choose OpenRouter audio models or PayPerQ speech models

Add a custom prompt or vocabulary so it nails names and jargon

Local recordings are deleted the moment they're sent

AI Text Fix Select rough text, long-press Return, hit Fix. Get back a clean message in the same language.

Works in any language your model supports

Cleans typos, awkward phrasing, or shifts tone (formal ↔ casual)

You review the rewrite before replacing the original

Zero Data Retention WisprBoard requests OpenRouter zero-data-retention endpoints by default. When the model offers a ZDR route, your audio and text aren't logged, stored, or used for training. API keys are encrypted with the Android Keystore, excluded from cloud backups, and never written to logs. All the HeliBoard features you expect

Add dictionaries for suggestions and spell check

Customize themes (style, colors, background image); follows system day/night and dynamic colors

Customize keyboard layouts and special layouts (symbols, number, functional keys)

Multilingual typing

Clipboard history

One-handed mode and split keyboard

Number pad

Backup and restore your settings and custom assets

Privacy footnote Once your audio or selected text reaches OpenRouter, PayPerQ, or the underlying model provider, their policies apply. Read their privacy terms before pointing this at anything sensitive. WisprBoard installs side-by-side with HeliBoard, so you can keep both. Source: https://github.com/Turtlecute33/WisprBoard

Releases
- Oct 31, 2026 7.13.4This patch release always shows the Translate consent dialog, and has small fixes for voice input, the clipboard panel and the setup wizard. Requires Android 5 or later. One APK for arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86 and x86_64. Update from 7.13.3 in place: the signing key is the same. **Changed** - During a dictation, the voice meter redraws less often while your voice moves the bars. This can use less battery. The meter looks the same. In silence, the pulse moves as before. **Fixed** - With "Haptic feedback" off in the Voice settings, the keyboard still vibrated when a dictation stopped at the maximum recording length. Now it does not vibrate. - When the microphone failed at the start of a recording, the overlay could stay on "Recording…" with a frozen timer, and your next key press did not type. Now the recording stops at once and the app shows "Recording stopped unexpectedly. Try again."
- If the clipboard history could not save two different clips, for example when the storage was full, the keyboard crashed when you opened the clipboard panel. Now the panel shows only the clips that the app saved. - In the setup wizard, a failed API key save could show as a success, and sometimes the app did not save the key at all. Now the save always runs to the end. If it fails, the wizard shows "Secure storage is unavailable on this device". **Privacy and security** - When you turn on Translate, the app always shows its consent dialog. The dialog tells you that Translate sends the clipboard to your AI provider when no text is selected. Before, the dialog did not show when Text Fix was already on, so you did not see this information. | File | Use | |---|---| | `WisprBoard_7.13.4-release.apk` | Release build, signed. | | `SHA256SUMS.txt` | SHA-256 of the APK. | SHA-256: - `WisprBoard_7.13.4-release.apk`: `bd5ba0b06c2ac3781e471f95e597e1f46f828ed9ac53344d9c411fcb454c8d87` Signing certificate SHA-256: `b6:e3:58:e5:b4:1e:57:cc:ea:f5:89:73:c9:c2:6d:da:34:99:32:fa:da:b7:32:e4:d6:1e:0d:ce:26:a0:31:38` **Full Changelog**: https://github.com/Turtlecute33/WisprBoard/compare/v7.13.3...v7.13.4
