- Oct 27, 2026 0.4.2Includes the new launcher icon and a new status-bar notification icon (Roadbeacon warning triangle, brand indigo accent) for the monitoring and alert notifications. Supersedes 0.4.1, which was never published to Zapstore. APK signing certificate SHA-256: 79750fb49349ec3729be5a3e825507a15e47c6d987e854ae91d5d50a20b3a24d
- Oct 26, 2026 0.4.0## Roadbeacon 0.4.0 — renamed, and one shared event format The app was **Roadstr**; it is now **Roadbeacon** (package `app.roadbeacon`) so it cannot be confused with the independent [Roadstr navigation app](https://github.com/roadstrapp/roadstr-app). This is a new package: it installs **next to** the old app, does not share its data, and the old `com.roadstr` app can be uninstalled. ### The road-event format changed 0.4.0 writes the same event layout as that navigation app, so both clients now publish and read the

same bytes. The previous layout is deprecated and neither read nor written. - **Reports** (kind 1315): `lat, lon, g, g, g, t, expiration[, maxspeed]`, six-decimal coordinates, no `alt` tag. The brand is no longer inside signed events. - **Votes** (kind 1316): `e, status` only — no position, no expiration. - **Retention**: `expiration = created_at + max(14 days, type lifetime)`, so confirmations can extend a report instead of finding it deleted from relays. - **Categories**: 15 now, including **police station** and **surveillance camera**. - **Frames for mesh**: a report is 117–165 bytes (up to 48 bytes of comment); a vote is 134 bytes and self-contained. New events are readable by the Roadstr app and vice versa. Events published before 0.4.0 remain valid on relays and expire on their own. ### Also in this release - Six-decimal coordinates are parsed and printed from integers: no locale-dependent commas, no truncation (the old client produced unverifiable frames for ~12 % of reports). - The frame encoder refuses anything that cannot be rebuilt byte for byte, and a published vector pins the bytes in the test suite. - The app asks relays for the last 30 days instead of 24 hours, so long-lived reports (speed cameras) are no longer hidden on a cold start. - The web client verifies every event signature before display.
