Submarine

Your passwords, encrypted and synced. No account needed.

Submarine keeps your passwords, cards and notes safe and in sync across your devices, with no account to create. Everything is encrypted before it is synced, so nobody but you can read it, not even us. Your vaults live on Nostr relays: open servers that anyone can run, and that only see encrypted data. When you create a vault, Submarine gives you its key. That key opens your vault on your other devices, so keep it somewhere safe: if you lose it, nobody can recover your vault. - Logins, cards and secure notes, with your own custom fields. - Two-factor authentication codes next to your logins. - A generator of strong passwords, passphrases and usernames. - Import your passwords from Bitwarden, and export them at any time. - A lock password, with your fingerprint, face or screen lock as a shortcut. - Copied passwords cleared from the clipboard after a delay. - Screenshots blocked unless you allow them, and the app hidden in recent apps. - The same vaults on your computer and on the web. Free and open source. No ads, no tracking. Already using Nostr? A signer app such as Amber can hold your vault keys. Submarine is still young. For your most important passwords, we still recommend a proven password manager.

Releases

  • Oct 9, 2026 0.1.0
    - First release, for Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, Linux and the web. - Vaults in a rail, created on the device or opened with their key. Their settings rename and recolor them, copy their key, and remove them from the device while their relays keep them. - Vaults opened with an ncryptsec and its password (NIP-49), or through a browser extension (NIP-07), a bunker or Nostr Connect (NIP-46), or a signer app (NIP-55). - What a signer decrypted is kept on the device, encrypted, so that it is asked only for what is new, and the items show without waiting for it. Its vault settings can have the signer open the vault at each launch instead. - What a signer waits on the user for, after 2 seconds without an answer, in a button of the rail or a bar at the bottom of a phone screen. It lists the requests, by vault and in plain words, opens the approval page of a bunker that asks for one, and cancels them. - Logins, cards and secure notes created and edited, with custom fields added, renamed and reordered. Identities and SSH keys are shown. - An item's menu from its row, by right click or long press. On a phone or tablet, a password or a card number copied from its row. - Search and filters, trash and TOTP codes. - A generator of passwords, passphrases and usernames, and of the made-up first name, last name and birth date a site asks for. - Import and export of Bitwarden JSON files, password protected or not.
    - Live sync, and the changes not sent yet. - The vault's relays in its settings, changed as a draft and saved as a single relay list. - The vaults encrypted on the device, under a key of the device. - A lock password on every platform, with the device's biometrics or screen lock as a shortcut where it has them. The vaults close while the app is locked. Ctrl+L, or ⌘L on Apple devices, locks it from anywhere. - Copied passwords cleared from the clipboard after a delay. The app hidden from the app switcher, and screen capture blocked on Android. - A light, dark or system theme. - Every control named for screen readers, on the web too, which hear the selected row, a copy, a wrong lock password, a failed sync and a waiting signer. Control borders and the selected row at a 3:1 contrast, every control at least 48 by 48 to tap, and every screen whole with text twice as large. - A welcome screen about the user's passwords, and a Built on Nostr link that explains the relays and the keys. - English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), Finnish, Russian, Japanese and Chinese, as the device's language or picked in the settings.
