Staircase is a private group messenger built on [Cordn](https://cordn.net): end-to-end encrypted MLS groups (RFC 9420) whose messages are ordered by a coordinator you choose and carried over Nostr relays. No phone number, no account on anyone's server, and nobody in the middle can read along. - **Group chats** with replies, reactions, @mentions, pins and encrypted photos and files - **You decide who's in**: admins, invite links and QR codes; members join with their own Nostr key - **Your keys**: a local key or Amber (NIP-55); nothing leaves the device unencrypted - **Multi-device**: link your phone and desktop to the same groups - **Open network**: pick your coordinators, relays and Blossom servers - Works with other Cordn clients such as cordn-web; also available for Linux desktop (deb, rpm, Arch)

- Sep 25, 2026 0.1.7### Fixed - A relay that stopped answering is reconnected automatically. Before, it could stay disconnected until the app was restarted, and a coordinator reachable only through it showed "not responding". - Subscriptions a relay closed are re-opened, so one relay dropping out no longer stops messages arriving. - Sending no longer waits for slow or dead relays once one relay has accepted the message. - At startup, two requests to the same coordinator could get each other's replies; replies are now matched exactly. ### Changed - Release builds log much less: warnings and connection changes only, with no message content or full identifiers. Settings › Diagnostics › Verbose logging turns on detailed logs for a bug report.
