Private email app with end-to-end encryption, aliases, and custom domains

Aster Mail is a private, encrypted email app for astermail.org accounts. Your messages are encrypted on your device before they leave it. The server stores ciphertext and nothing else, so nobody at Aster can read your mail, scan it, or sell what is in it. There are no ads, no trackers, and no analytics anywhere in the app. Private by design - End-to-end encryption between Aster users, using a post-quantum ratchet protocol - Zero-access architecture: the server holds only encrypted content - No ads, no tracking, no telemetry, no profiling - Open source under AGPL-3.0, so anyone can audit what the app does Email aliases - Create an alias for each site you sign up for, and turn one off when it starts getting spam - See which alias a message arrived on, right in the message list - Import and export your aliases Your own domain - Send and receive on a custom domain, with DKIM signing handled for you - Buy a domain from inside the app Everyday mail - Folders, labels, categories, and search across your whole mailbox - Swipe actions and a toolbar you can customize - Templates, signatures, scheduled send, and auto-forwarding - Blocked senders, sender filters, and an allow list - Encrypted offline storage, so your mail is there without a connection Security - Biometric lock - Two-factor authentication and a recovery key - Active session management, so you can sign out a device you no longer have Notifications - Private mode hides the sender and subject on your lock screen - Quiet hours schedule when notifications arrive - Per-folder muting This F-Droid build contains no Firebase or Google Play Services dependencies. Push notifications are delivered through any UnifiedPush-compatible distributor, such as ntfy. Background polling takes over when no distributor is installed. Aster Mail is free to use. Paid plans add storage, larger attachments, more aliases, and custom domains. Source code: https://github.com/Aster-Privacy/Aster-Android

    > [!NOTE] > This APK is for new installations and manual updates. If you installed Aster Mail from Google Play, it updates automatically. Aster-Mail.apk and Aster-Mail-1.0.19-full.apk are the same signed build: the first always points to the newest release and the second pins this version. Aster-Mail-fdroid-1.0.19.apk is the build F-Droid distributes. ## What's new - When you create an account, the app checks whether your username is available before you set a password. - You can sort aliases by the last mail they received, and each alias shows when it last got mail. - Inbox rows line up more evenly, and you can choose whether each message shows 2 or 3 lines. ## Fixed
    More…
    - After you buy an offer, the confirmation names the plan you chose and lists that plan's features. - Mail you imported from an older account opens again instead of staying unreadable. - Swiping back from the first message in the reader now closes the reader. - Notifications stack on the lock screen and clear when you read the message on another device. - Sheets no longer show a white bar at the bottom, and the **Keep me signed in** row has even spacing. ## Verify the APK Every Aster Mail APK in this release is signed with the Aster release certificate. Before you install one, check that its signing certificate matches this fingerprint. - **Package name:** `org.astermail.android` - **SHA-256 certificate fingerprint:** `88:B0:A8:A6:FB:94:EE:73:A4:54:A0:F9:27:32:BD:40:8E:92:E5:1E:C1:E9:55:67:44:E5:F0:05:56:10:09:77` To check a downloaded APK on a computer, run `apksigner verify --print-certs Aster-Mail.apk` from the Android SDK build tools. The `certificate SHA-256 digest` line shows the same value in lowercase without colons. To check the app on your phone, use a verification app such as AppVerifier. If you install Aster Mail from Google Play, Google Play signs it with its own key, so that copy has a different fingerprint: `C2:0D:A2:1D:DA:9D:35:45:26:75:34:19:11:B0:01:E5:32:80:B5:C8:91:AB:90:9B:13:BF:27:63:77:40:A6:AF`

    > [!NOTE] > This APK is for new installations and manual updates. If you installed Aster Mail from Google Play, it updates automatically. Aster-Mail.apk and Aster-Mail-1.0.17-full.apk are the same signed build: the first always points to the newest release and the second pins this version. Aster-Mail-fdroid-1.0.17.apk is the build F-Droid distributes. ## What's new - Swipe actions in the inbox now commit on a shorter swipe, so archiving and deleting takes less effort. - When you select several drafts and tap the trash button, the app calls the action **Discard** and asks you to confirm before it removes them. - Sender logos now appear for addresses that arrive without a display name. ## Fixed
    More…
    - Wide emails and HTML messages fit the screen without clipping or sideways scrolling. - When you compose from an external account, the sender identities for that account appear in the **From** list again. - Right-to-left text stays in the correct order when you send it. - Opening a message no longer shows loading placeholders when the list already has rows. - Starting a send closes the draft session, so a sent message no longer leaves a copy in **Drafts**. - Swiping between messages is steadier, and the back arrow stays in place while you swipe. - Signing in on a new device keeps mail from before an earlier sign-in readable. ## Verify the APK Every Aster Mail APK in this release is signed with the Aster release certificate.
