Zapstore Catalog Esperanto dictionary, with the whole Reta Vortaro, offline
Bona vortaro is an Esperanto dictionary for Android. It contains the whole [Reta Vortaro](https://reta-vortaro.de/) (ReVo), the free Esperanto dictionary, with its translations into more than 170 languages, and works without Internet access. • Search in Esperanto and in your other languages, with or without accents (cx → ĉ), and with wildcards (*ologio). • Read clear articles: definitions, examples, remarks, links between words, and the translations in your languages, the examples' too. • See which words are official (Fundamento, Official Additions), and browse the list of each Addition. • Long-press a word to look it up, whatever its form: "arbojn" finds "arbo". • Meet a word that isn't in the dictionary? The search suggests the roots and affixes it may be built from: "malsanulejestrano" = malsanulej + estr + ano. • More French translations: thousands of French words that Reta Vortaro lacks, from the French Wiktionary, with a dotted underline in the articles. • Definitions from the Esperanto Wiktionary for hundreds of words that Reta Vortaro lacks. • Words advised against by "Vortoj de la bona lingvo" (labonalingvo.org), with what to say instead: "eskalatoro", preferably "rulŝtuparo". • After each example, the work it comes from; icons for the fields. • Leaf through the dictionary from root to root, or discover a random root. • Your recent searches, day and night colours, text size. The app's interface is in Esperanto. You can search, and read the translations, in any of the dictionary's 170+ languages. The name is a tribute to "La bona lingvo" by Claude Piron. Bona vortaro is based on PReVo by Neil Roberts.

## In English **What's new** - **The origins of the words**, if you turn them on in the settings: which languages they come from, according to András Rajki's *Etimologia Vortaro de Esperanto* (2006, public domain) and the Esperanto Wiktionary. *akvo*: Italian *acqua*, Latin *aqua*. - **The most used translation first**: when several Esperanto words translate the same word, the search shows the most frequent one first, according to the Esperanto corpus of the [Leipzig Corpora Collection](https://wortschatz.uni-leipzig.de/en/download/Esperanto) (Leipzig University, CC BY): "deviner" gives *diveni* before *duonkompreni*. Rare, archaic or advised-against words come after the others ("raisin": *vinbero*, then *uvo*), and the simpler word that "Vortoj de la bona lingvo" proposes comes first if it is used enough ("truck": *ŝarĝaŭto* before *kamiono*). - **Improve the dictionary**: a new page explaining how to correct a mistake or a gap at each source (Reta Vortaro, Wiktionary, La Bona Lingvo), so that the fix helps everyone and comes back in the next version. - **Guesses for missing words are always shown** (the setting is gone): better a suggestion than "Neniu vorto troviĝis". - **More French words found**: "virage" (ĝirejo), "récupérer" (reakiri), "cassoulet" (kasuleto, advised against). - **Reta Vortaro's data** of 6 November 2026. **Improvements**: a quicker first search; the settings in the order of the app; an article opened at a word no longer scrolls for nothing; better in landscape, with large text and with TalkBack; a link with no browser says so instead of closing the app; many small fixes after two rounds of tests. --- SHA-256 of the signing certificate (the same for every version): `b2:26:de:c0:de:9e:e7:d8:92:a4:fe:51:5f:f5:bd:09:45:83:eb:0e:22:97:99:ff:60:19:4b:fe:79:16:95:a3`
