Zapstore Catalog Encrypted container explorer: VeraCrypt, LUKS, BitLocker, Cryptomator, gocryptfs
Vault Explorer opens and browses encrypted containers and vaults directly on your device -- VeraCrypt/TrueCrypt, LUKS, BitLocker, Cryptomator, gocryptfs, and CryFS, plus VHD/VHDX images -- without exporting your files unencrypted to shared storage. Features: * Read/write NTFS, FAT/exFAT, and ext2/3/4 filesystems inside a container * VeraCrypt/LUKS/BitLocker unlock, including cascaded ciphers and hidden volumes * Cryptomator, gocryptfs, and CryFS directory-vault support * Built-in viewers and editors for photos, video/audio, PDF, HTML, Markdown, and text/code, plus an image editor and archive browser (ZIP, 7-Zip, RAR, TAR and more) * Vault camera -- shoot photos and video straight into a container, with background recording and a Quick Settings tile/shortcut * Item Vault -- an encrypted password manager built into your container * Create new encrypted containers and USB volumes, up to 8 mounted at once * Password, PIN, pattern, or biometric unlock * Storage locations for device storage, SD cards, and cloud document providers, plus auto-sync between a vault and a folder * Emergency panic and duress unlock -- lock vaults, wipe credentials, or wipe the app's own data * Mask Mode -- optionally disguise the app as a real, working local file manager on the home screen; hold the title for 2 seconds to reach your real vault * Optional local automation for Tasker/MacroDroid (Beta) -- no network involved * Tools: keyfile/passphrase generator, file encryptor, hash verifier, vault sync, storage analyzer, duplicate finder, split & join, header backup, and container repair Vault Explorer does not collect or transmit any data -- it has no INTERNET permission at all. All decryption happens locally on your device, in memory wherever possible. The few operations that need a scratch file keep it in private app storage and wipe it afterwards. Files only leave a vault when you (or an automation you enabled) export, share, or sync them. Mask Mode only changes the app's home-screen name, icon, and front screen for situations where someone else may pick up your device. The disguised file manager is a genuine, working browser for your device's own storage, not a way to hide activity from other people.

- Nov 6, 2026 1.50.0# Release Notes ### New Features & UI Enhancements * **Gallery Mode:** Added a dedicated Gallery View toggle in the toolbar for faster media browsing. * **Toolbar Quick Menu:** Added a quick-actions menu directly in the main toolbar for common operations. * **Category Filters in Side Drawer:** Added convenient shortcut filters for **Videos, Images, Audio, and Documents** in the navigation drawer to aggregate files across different storage locations (can be reordered or removed in settings). * **Session Persistence in Mask Mode:** Returning to Mask Mode now retains open tabs and active vault sessions instead of discarding them. * **Predictive Back Navigation:** Added a setting in App Settings to enable/disable system predictive back animations. * **UI Bug Fix:** Fixed an alignment issue where folders without thumbnails rendered off-center.

--- ### Tools & File Management * **Revamped Storage Analyzer:** Completely overhauled the analyzer with interactive results—easily inspect what is consuming storage and delete files/folders directly from the report view. * **Revamped Sync Tool:** Overhauled the sync utility with advanced controls, enhanced transfer visibility, and finer sync options. * **Archive Empty Folders:** Fixed an issue where creating an archive containing only empty folders would fail. --- ### Core Architecture: Native Folder Vault Engine * **High-Performance C++ Core:** * Migrated the engines for **gocryptfs**, **Cryptomator (formats 7 & 8)**, and **CryFS** from Kotlin to a unified, platform-neutral native C++ core (`foldervault`). * Drastically reduces JVM memory usage, eliminates garbage collection stutter during large transfers, and enforces consistent POSIX filesystem semantics across all vault types. * Added a standalone CLI tool (`fvcli`) for testing and desktop targets. * **Spec Compliance & Compatibility:** * **CryFS:** Block files are now written in uppercase hexadecimal matching official CryFS specifications (fixing issues on case-sensitive storage). Existing lowercase block vaults remain fully supported. * **Cryptomator:** Corrected `dirid.c9r` generation to record the directory's own ID rather than its parent's ID, matching official Cryptomator specifications. * Verified interoperability with official upstream implementations (gocryptfs 2.4.0, Cryptomator CLI 0.6.2, CryFS 0.11.4). * **Filesystem Atomicity & Resilience:** * Canceled or failed transfers now clean up cleanly instead of leaving truncated or orphaned files on backing storage. * Implemented atomic rename-over-write semantics, eliminating duplicate directory entries in CryFS. * Deleting directories in Cryptomator now properly prunes underlying backing folders. * Eliminated redundant integrity-log fsyncs on brand-new CryFS blocks. --- ### Critical Data Integrity Fixes (VeraCrypt) * **Fixed Password Change Offset:** Resolved a critical bug where changing a VeraCrypt password wrote the backup header inside the active data payload (offset $V - 3A$ instead of $V - A$), corrupting 512 bytes of user data and leaving the real backup header with stale credentials. * **Corrected Hidden Volume Protection Range:** Fixed an off-by-128 KiB calculation in hidden volume protection arming. Protection now covers the exact decoded boundary of the hidden volume, preventing outer-volume writes from corrupting the hidden volume's boot sector and allocation tables. * **Restored Plausible Deniability:** Newly created containers now fill both primary and backup 128 KiB header areas with cryptographically secure pseudorandom bytes, preventing detection of hidden volumes via uninitialized zero-byte slots. > ⚠️ **Important Notice for VeraCrypt Users:** If you changed the password of a VeraCrypt container using version 1.40.0 or earlier, we strongly recommend changing the password again in this release to ensure the backup header is properly relocated to the correct sector. --- ### Storage & USB Driver Improvements * **Cache Coherency:** Fixed an issue where USB read-ahead caching served stale data after adjacent writes. * **Write Ordering:** Resolved a race condition where overlapping sector writes between metadata and data streams could violate last-write-wins ordering on flush. * **Write Retry Durability:** Transient USB flush failures no longer discard pending write buffers, ensuring data can be successfully retried. * **Sync Error Propagation:** Synchronous USB flush/sync failures now correctly bubble up through filesystem sync (`CTRL_SYNC`) and unmount paths. --- ### Security & Native Hardening * Fixed a 16-byte native heap overflow vulnerability in the BoringSSL XChaCha20-Poly1305 failure path. * Fixed undefined behavior caused by null pointer arguments in AES-SIV `memcpy` routines. SHA256 Signature: `0bde9d3b0ee3f56617d02632c843b1629bf0b2faa4560dff5d26f651dc325f19` **Full Changelog**: https://github.com/R0b0To/VaultExplorer/compare/v1.40.0...v1.50.0 - Nov 2, 2026 1.40.0## What's New ### Features * **Cover Thumbnails:** Added thumbnail support for book and comic covers. * **Encrypted Vaults:** Added support for gocryptfs AES-SIV vaults. * **Archive Support:** Added the ability to open nested archives. ### UI & UX * Redesigned the audio and editor interface in landscape mode. * Polished UI/UX across various screens.
